We took a tour to Vlissingen in the Netherlands.
It was a windy place, with Dutch and Belgian pilots boats going back and forth!
At Vlissingen, which is on the
mouth of the Schelde river, pilots from both the Netherlands and Belgian
pilot authorities are stationed, to guide vessels from the high seas into
the ports of either Antwerp and other Belgian ports as well as the many
small Dutch ports in the area.
Vessels are very close to the
shoreline, so this is a very good place to observe the transition of pilots
between vessels and pilot cutters!
